TOURNAMENT RULES
Ringette Canada Rules will apply with the exception of the following:
1. If teams have same colored jerseys, visitors must change.
2. Teams will have a two (2) minute warm-up prior to starting their game.
3. A maximum spread of seven (7) goals per game will be used in determining the stats.
4. All regular schedule games will be two (2) 15-minute stop-time periods. All U9 games will consist of two (2) 21-minute straight-time periods. The buzzer will ring every three (3) minute for line change.
5. All playoff games will consist of two (2) 15-minute stop-time periods. In the event of a tie, one (1) 10-minute sudden death overtime will be played to declare a winner. If still tied, after one (1) 10-minute stop-time period, each team will select three (3) players for shoot out, if still tied after that, each team will choose one (1) new player for sudden death shoot out and cannot choose the same player twice before the entire roaster is completed. A coin toss will determine first ring possession and first shooter for sudden death.
6. Tie Breaker Method: In the event of a tie in round robin play or a tie in a division where a round robin was not played, the following method will determine which team advances:
1. The winner of the game between teams (If three teams or more are tied, go to 6.2.)
2. The best plus/minus stat for the tournament
3. The team with the least goals against
4. The team with the most goals scored
5. The earliest time of a team’s first goal from their first game
6. A flip of a coin
*Note: This procedure shall be followed in sequence until the tie is broken (i.e. one team is eliminated from the tie). Once one team is eliminated from the tie, the procedure reverts back to (1).
** One team is eliminated from a tie in the following order:
? by being declared the tie breaking winner
? by being declared the tie breaking loser
7. Teams not ready to play within 5 minutes after scheduled start time will forfeit that game. Score for that game will be recorded as 4-0. Teams are to be ready to play 15 minutes before scheduled game time. In case of tie between teams, the team having a forfeited game will be given the lowest position.
8. Game sheets must be signed and verified thirty minutes prior to game time.
9. Home team in the championship game is decided by coin toss. Other team has choice of end.
10. If a match penalty or two misconduct penalties are assessed against a player, she/he will be suspended from any further participation in the tournament.
11. Only players registered with their respective house-league team and on the official tournament roster are allowed to play. Exemptions to this rule must be approved by the tournament committee prior to the team’s first game in the tournament.
12. A player may only appear and play on one tournament roster. Exemptions to this rule must be approved by the tournament committee prior to the team’s first game in the tournament
13. The tournament committee reserves the right to adjust game duration as deemed necessary to remain within overall tournament time.
14. There may not be more than two (2) male players on the ice, per team, at any time.
15. In all games, in the event of a seven-goal difference at 10 minutes before the end of the second period, the clock will run at straight time. The clock will remain at straight time until the end of the game. Penalties from this point will be served for two minutes straight time.
16. The Home Team of U12, U14, U16/19 divisions will be responsible for operation of the shot clock for all games except championship games. The tournament committee will be responsible for scheduling a Shot Clock Operator for Semi-Finals and Finals.
17. In the event a team is required to play 4 games in round robin play or in a division where a round robin was not played, the game results of one of their games (see random draw below) will be excluded for this team when determining team standings for playoff rounds. (*Note: Exception to this rule if applicable for tie breaker method 6.1 and 6.5, this game will be used for both teams)
18. No protest will be accepted. Tournament Committee’s decision is final.
19. All regular games will be 2, 15 mins stop time periods, with a 1 minute break between periods. No overtime will be played in preliminary games. At the 10 min mark of the second period when a team has a 7 goal lead, the clock will be left running, no stop time until the end of the game.
Radom Draw: A random draw will be held after the last game played for the team that had 4 games to determine which of their games results, where applicable, will be excluded. (see 17).
